I'm replacing my A4 upper.  I just got my Saber 20in A4 barrel in the mail, and sometime this week it will be mailed off to ADCO to be assembled on an upper with a DD 12 inch M4 rail.

Thing is, I'm not quite sure what I want to do with it.
I know I want to be able to mount my SF556k can on this upper, but I also want to maintain the ability to mount a bayonet on this rifle.

If I just put the SF556KMB on it, I can't mount a bayonet, and more importantly who knows if the factory threads are straight or not?

Now I could have ADCO chop the barrel slightly, then I would know I would have good threads, and could mount a bayonet.
Another pro is that this would be about the same length of a standard birdcage on a 20 inch barrel.
Thing is, the bayonet ring  covers the top ports of the mount sightly

I rather like this idea, the bayo ring would be infront of the top ports, and behind the side ports.
However I think it would be a pain in the ass to try to get spaced perfectly, and the location of the bayonet ring may vary from bayonet to bayonet.
With this and the above idea, the rifle would also retain the profile of a M16A4.

If the barrel was chopped to this length, the bayo ring would fall between the ports, and the overall length would be the same as a 20 in barrel with no flash hider

Now the barrel could be chopped this short, so I could still use a bayonet, and loose about 2 inches for handling.

So, anyone have any suggestions, comments, or ideas?
