How does Sabre Defence's uppers rate against the Tier-1 manufacturers such as Colt, LMT, and BCM?  I know they have been a military contractor making barrels for some time now, and have been awarded an M-16 contract, joining Colt and FN.  I have noticed that thier uppers seem to be selling for lower prices (at least on Gunbroker) compared to some of the commercial brands (Bushy, RRA, DPMS, etc).  Is this because they are relatively unknown to the masses?  I got a good deal on a Sabre M-4 profile upper with BCG, and I plan to mount to my LMT lower.  Will I be as happy with this as if had bought an LMT or BCM upper?

Thanks in advance for all of your input!

Thanks for the replies.  The upper I bought comes with a Sabre BCG.  Looking at "the chart", it appears that these are not MP or HPT.  Does anyone know who makes the BCG for Sabre.  I have a LMT F/A BCG on order from LMT, but I'm not holding my breath on the deilivery of that one!

If "the chart" matters, you should have bought a Colt.

I own a Sabre and it's flawless, as are my Colt's, MP15's, LWRC's and hopefully you get the point: There is a top tier of builders...and all of them build great EBR's. Next step down from that group (and some others I've yet to purchase) and things will get interesting...and broken IMO

Outlaws,

I have two Colt 6920's already.  I found the LMT lower at a local gunshop for a steal (dealer said DPMS was better ).  I wanted a quality upper to match with the LMT lower and found the Sabre.  Thanks for your reply.  BTW, I love my Colts!!

I was disappointed in my Sabre chrome lined barrel. Tight chamber. Lots of stuck cases. Brass ammo, BCM BCG. Thoroughly cleaned and the problem persisted.

I was semi-sorta disappointed in my SS Sabre barrel. No matter who shot it, no matter what optic or what mount or what sights, it never really grouped all that well.

I did the same thing. (Sabre midlength upper and LMT lower) My 6920 sees very little use now.

Bullitt3401,

One of my 6920's is my duty gun, and the second 6920 is a backup to that one (two is one!).  Like I said, I found the LMT lower at a dealer who ordered some lowers from a supply house, and offered me a great deal on it (he had never heard of LMT - I got lucky!).  Thanks for all of your input!  The Sabre is 1/9 twist, and I prefer 1/7, but like I said I got a great deal on the upper.  I will end up with a complete LMT/Sabre rifle for under $1000.
