This might be a dumb question ..... I have heard a number of ar15 includding mine shoot ....and i have heard some quieter than others... mine seems really loud...
My question is what effects ar15 noise level? Would a diff muzzle break make it sound diff... If so what is a muzzle break that would make u go compelety deaf? thanks |

Yes, but....
The noise is cause by the redirection of the pressure wave back to the shooter rather than away from the shooter without a brake. Maximum brake efficiency would be obtained by capturing as much blast as possible and directing straight back. Some brake compromise on efficiency to be quiter. Usually this is by venting the gas with angle forward holes or letting some gas out through forward holes. The vais brake does the later and is supposed to be quite. |
