I'm so confused looking at these rifles and their various options and configurations. For example on the Rock River Website they have
Entry Tactical which is a 16" barrel, R4 handguard, 6 position stock, two stage trigger, with optional carry handle model, which to me appears to be the same as Tactical Car A4 16" barrel, R4 handguard, 6 position stock, two stage trigger, with optional carry handle. Elite CAR A4 with 16" Barrel, Mid length handguard, Tactical Car Stock, two stage trigger and optional tactical or A2 carry handle. What is the difference? What does entry stock mean? Is it better to get a removable tactical carry handle (it includes rear sight) or maybe a folding rear sight? Sorry for all the questions I just don't know what the differences are and it's making my head spin. |

Look at the barrels, both are 16" but are different profiles.
The RRA Tactical Carry Handle is worthless junk in my opinion. It serves no useful purpose that a fixed or folding rear sight doesn't serve and add extra weight. Whatever AR you get, get yourself a Troy folding rear sight or a Larue fixed rear sight. The RRA Tactical Carry Handle does add height, if you need that. I don't, but I suppose some do. Not completely worthless. The notched barrel IS a worthless affectation, however. Unless your ammo is ordered by NSN and delivered by deuce and a half. the Entry stock is a short A2 style stock pictured below
Just had a thought: Is there any storage space in the tactical entry stock? Couldn't be much. FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda. Regards, Ed Mann Bobby Bowden is doing a fine job - just leave him alone. Albert says, "Click here for free Gator wallpaper."

For one thing the first two you mentioned which you said you couldn't tell a difference in, the entry tactical has the M4 profile barrel the other does not. ETA- too slow, was looking at the RRA site when replying What are the benefits of the m4 profile barrel? |

M4 profile barrel lets you mount your M203 grenade launcher on your rifle....but only if you have the shorter barrel. (16 incher is TOO long). So the cut away is just a waste, and you pay EXTRA for it! But its all about STYLE for some. I know people who refuse to look at the rifle if it doesn't have that cut out.
Now, the M4 barrel is lighter than the HBAR that is used on some carbines. The M4 is machined down under the hand guards to lessen the weight of the rifle. At range you may not notice it so much. In the field when you carry that rifle for hours at a time it makes a difference. |

Been a while since I've seen a 16" M4 profile barrel in person, but I'm pretty sure the length is added after the notch. You can still mount the M203. However the bayonet won't fit right. It will mount but will be loose because the hilt will be around the thinner barrel rather than the flash hider. |
