| Looking for a soft case for a 16" with a fully-extended stock. Was looking at either the Blackhawk discreet case, or the Spike's case. Anyone make any recommendations and/or have some nice photos?! Also want something with pouches for mags, cleaning supplies, etc. Photos would be appreciated. |

i have been using a 5.11 case (either 35, or 36") and i love it. best part is officerstore.com has them for $45 right now + $8 shipping. Can you send me a link to that case? I can't seem to find it. Thanks for the help. here and damn, there not on sale anymore, they're back up to normal price. still worth the $90 though. |
| I like my Blackhawk 36" Discreet Case: the large outside pocket holds most everything I need for a range session - ammo, cleaning gear, bipod, etc. I can carry my 16" M4 with the stock extended out to two clicks, but if you want to carry a 16" AR with the stock fully extended you will probably need a 42" case. |

I highly suggest this one: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE206-1.html
Several shops carry it and it works well. (picture in link) It secures the rifle well with velcro straps and has plenty of extra room. I use one of the small pockets for my hearing, eye protection, staple gun, cleaning kit and field repair tools. The large center pocket can hold 6 PMAG30s with some room to spare. The 3rd pocket holds extra ammo. It also has a large external pocket running the length of the case which holds targets, cleaning rod and whatever else. |

I made the mistake of buying one and regret doing so. The plastic buckles and the plastic snap swivels are POS ! My snap swivels on the shoulder strap busted the first time I put just my iron sighted M4 in the bag and the snaps on the molle mag pouches won't stay snapped. Look at the Voodoo Tactical bag. It is a much higher quality bag that won't fall apart on you.! |

How is the padding on the Blackhawk and the 5.11? Padding on the Blackhawk is closed cell and it's sufficient. I can't compare to the 5.11 as I've never seen a 5.11 case in person. I don't like that the Blackhawk's accessory pouch isn't molle...
Yeah I can see were Molle would be an improvement, but the Velcro is very secure and allows for placement anywhere and easier changes. |

I'm using the Uncle Mike's tactical rifle case. http://www.copsplus.com/products/zoom/um-5212-1_1.jpg I got this because I needed a case and this was what they had at the gunshop. For the money, I didn't expect much, but I was surprised! This is a very nice case despite its low cost. I'm using the 'medium' for rifles up to 33". My Bushy carbine is 32½" with the stock collapsed and it fits perfectly. The case will hold the carbine with the scope off and a 30-round mag locked, or with the scope attached to the top of the fixed carry handle and a 20-round mag locked. My case is slightly different from the one in the pic. The three external mag pouches (five on the longer case) are deeper, they go all the way from top to bottom. The ones in the pic would probably only hold up to a 30-round mag. I don't have a 40-round mag to try in my pouch, but I can say with some certainty that it would fit because you can put two 20-round mags in the pouch and still close the flap. Also, the shoulder strap on mine is on the back side, not on the bottom like the one shown. There's an open pocket below the carry handle, and a long pocket with a velcro flap in front. I give this one a thumbs-up. Great value for a limted budget. I use the same case for both my 16" carbine and my 10.5" sbr. I like the case a lot, has been very durable. |

Has anyone used the soft case from Brownell's made by Boyt Harness?

I love my Boyt "Tactical Gun Cases", I have both the 36" and 41" cases in black. They are pricey (I didn't and wouldn't buy them from their website, I ordered them a while back from my local shop for $95.00 each) but they are by far my favorite cases out of all that I have. The fact that they are recatgular and devoid of obvious logos makes them very nicely discreet, heck I could probably pass 'em off as keyboard cases to the sheeple.
The 36" fits my 16" 6920 with the SOPMOD stock about halfway extended and the 41" fits my M16A4'gery snuggly; both have adjustable velcro-type straps that hold the rifles in place. The outer pouch has MOLLE loops that allow customizable selection and placement of pouches bags and accessories. The Cases come with two each two-pocket mag pouches. My 36" case holds three each two-mag pouches, for a total of 6 mags and a small rectangular pouch that holds my cleaning kit and lube. The 41" can hold one more two-mag pouch than the 36". I just received the Voodoo Tactical the other day. I only have my rifles in it right now, but it seems very good quality and a great price. Plenty of room for mags, ammo, kits, and even handguns. Strong handle carry strap and two removable straps for carry on your back. Molle straps on the front for more additions as well. On their website it is called "Mil-Spec Plus" but it is indeed the Voodoo Tactical. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/mil-spec-plus-padded-gun-cases.aspx?a=406459
