I was wanting know if anyone uses wolf ammo in their DPMS. It says not to in the owners manual, but I didn't really know the reason why. I have some friends that use the wolf military ammo. If you do use it which wolf type?

i know alot of people that use it, the problem used to be on the old cases is the laquer on the cases heated up and it stayed in the chamber and jammed alot. Now with the new polymer coat you wont have that problem. If you shoot the laquer make sure you clean it good so it doesnt gunk up and dont wait long so its not next to impossiable to get out.once again not a problem on the new polymer coat. You can tell by the color of the case, if its grey its the polymer and if its green its laquer.

another problem even with new wolf is since it is steel cased it causes the extracter more wear. Not a big problem just buy a few of them to have with you.

I know that some bushmasters are picky with wolf some just dont like it for some reason. I never shot it out of mine, but i do have 20 rounds of wolf mil classic. I know a friend that has a bushmaster and it shoots wolf black box fine. I dont know if DPMS has the same problem or not i just hope i get lucky and can shoot wolf in mine. If i shoot my wolf soon ill report back.

The only diffrence in wolf black box and militatry classic is what factory it was made in and Wolf mil classic is known for higher quality. I buy both for my AK and perfer wolf Mil classic, they dont make the gun jam they shoot flawlessly (sks too) and from my thousands of rounds wolf MC is generaly more accurate and consistant than black box.

If you choose to shoot wolf buy about 100 or even 50 or so rounds and make sure it shoots ok for you, Im guessing its just practice/plinking ammo so its not going to be as accurate as the brass stuff but good enough for me when i shot my friends AR at 200 yards with it! I would definaly would not mind some for my SHTF stash.

Thanks for your thoughts, and opinions. I am going to get some and give it a try. I usually only shoot black hills red box 55 grain fmj, but i will try anything once. I will report back at a later date.

I stuck a round of the old wolf after 400 rounds of rapid fire with my DPMS barrel. Let it cool and then popped it out with a cleaning rod. Wolfs good for plinking. Buy some good brass ammo also.

If you have trouble with cleaning the laquer from the chamber try some laquer thinner. DO NOT get the laquer thinner on your plastic parts or the finished metal parts on your rifle.
