By putting it on top it reduces the gun barrel shadow. I like the pistol light because of the small size. The TLR-1 does block the FSB a little but it's not that bad. I'm in police academy right now so I'm running in them every day. I'm one of the few that hasn't had some pretty serious knee/ankle pain or shin splints.
