I odered a NM BCG and am waiting on my Larue upper to test it out. Very nice chrome BCG. Unstaked though, but Young claims that it doesn't need staked. We'll see. Very high quality BCG. - Lifetime warranty What is their reasoning behind not needing to be staked? Not bashing, just curious... |
|
^^ Supposedly Young uses red loctite which they claim does away with the need for staking. Problem is, heat tends to mess up loctite.
If you order a BCG direct from Young it will not be properly staked. If you order one from a vendor, the vendor MAY stake it properly for you. I got mine from PK and they staked it correctly. |

What about their non-chromed phosphate BCGs? Anyone have any experience with them? I have one... very nice IMO. Quality machining. I got it from Rainier so it came staked... I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, whether I have to stake it myself or not. Mine came staked too from Rainier |

Do they stake it through the chrome, or do they installed a phosphated key? Good question, I do not know. Will have to check when I go home. Edit: it appears they staked it through the chrome. The key is not phosphate, it is chrome plated. This is concerning a NM bolt, by the way. |

Here is my YM NM BCG staked Thanks for the pix. Do you think there are (or will be) any issues due to the cracked chrome plating? The cracked areas will probably eventually flake off, but it will take a long time as there's NO stress on those chips. I doubt seriously that he'd ever have any further problems. |
