I brought a semi-use S&W MP15 upper from my buddy for $200. He got a new MRP upper. It is an early S&W and the BCG is made by Stag. As far as I know, all Stag staking is done "incorrectly".
Here is a pic:
The upper has seen a total of 500 rounds on it. The stake is holding and the upper hasn't had a FTF or FTE.
Should I even worry about it and replaced it with a new LMT BCG(the cost of the BCG is going to be just about the same as the entire upper) or just shoot the thing until it breaks. I don't want to stake it because pushing metal onto the screw heads might weaken it more and cause it to break.
Has anyone with a AR with this kind of staking never ran into problems?

That stake job is not correct, but if it’s held to this point don’t screw with it.
If the key loosens over time, then replace it and the screws and stake it IAW the -23.

I had one just like that which had no issues with several hundred rounds. A friend who had a MOACKS tool gave it a makeover, only because he already had the tool.
