eta.it's finished. ended up going with the m-4 style, flattop upper 16 inch barrell ,changed out the gas block to a low profile unit got to pick up some back up irons for it ,right now it's topped witha an aim (chi com crap)3x9 40 scope .got a hell of a deal on it. so far very happy with the rifle.

Want do you want to do with it?

Target shooting, Varminting, run-and-gun games, Long range, short range.  All are considerations to be taken into account when building one up.  The cool thing is you can have multiple uppers for different applications.

i would say for general purpose, I would build a flat top, M4 type carbine first. then build specialty uppers later.

I'd stick with a carbine with a freefloat forearm.

M4 Profile barrel.

Flattop.

Collapsible stock.

Or a Flattop Lightweight Middy maybe?

Like you are aware, there are many different options for a carbine. A 16" rifle is more than capable to be used at intermediate distances while it's still extremely versatile in closer quarters.

Good luck and keep us updated on what you're thinking as far as the build.

And try to use good parts.
