Here's some food for thought.
The problem with the "circular hood" front siights on an AR15 is two fold: -In order to get the full "circle inside circle" effect, you need the front sight post to be in the perfect center of the circular hood. Otherwise, you have to align the front circle(hood) higher or lower than the rear circle(aperture), which kinda cancels out the advantages of the front sight's circular hood in the first place. -Because the AR's iron's are usually adjusted for elevation using only the front sight, most rear sights do not have the nessasary elevation adjustment to compensate for a front sight post being "fixed" in the perfect center. (Hk's adjust elevation/windage in the rear sight unlike the far simpler AR15's split system) Tex78 |
