i was at a gun store yesterday, and the man behind the counter said that most semi-autos will not function properly with reloads. he said that the sizing die would not push the case back enough to let it cycle reliably. is he all wet, or do i really have to stick with factory only ammo? i would of course use a full length sizer. but he said that still would not do the trick.

Use small base dies and you'll be fine.

Don't listen to gun store employee's....you shouldn't have ANY issues with reloads.

i've shot over 1000 of my own handloads through my AR.  RCBS full length die, and a mix of winchester and lake city brass.  absolutely NO problems what so ever.  i'm sure others will chime in with similiar experience.  get your components and have fun!

I sold all my store bought ammo and bought the stuff to reload.  For my AR I spend about $175 per k of quality reloads.

Why is it that people who works at gun stores usually don't know what the hell is going on?

I reload for my AR's, M1A's, M1 carbine, 1911's, reloading for semi-autos is a little more demanding of attention to detail than say bolt guns or revolvers.  But all mine have been just fine.  I get accurate ammo, as good as or better than factory, at 1/3 to 1/2 the cost.

Try not to pay any attention to gun store employees and their BS, it appears they hire the handicapped.

When told by a gun store employee to do a certain thing, do the opposite. When a gun store employee conveys information, believe the opposite.

That's because he knew if you started, you would no longer be paying the inflated prices he has been charging you. Typical gestapo tactics. Lie about what you can do to try to get you not to do it.....can you say control!!!
