I've been poring over the "So You Want to Buy an AR" article as I have been looking for complete uppers and Colt is very high on my short list. However, that article contains the caveat, "One thing to look out for: some of the civilian Colts have different sized holes where the receivers mate which can making building a gun with them somewhat more difficult if you are mixing brands."

How common are the Colt lowers with oversize holes?

Nevermind. The seller of the upper I was looking at confirmed that it has the standard size holes, so it looks like I've got a Colt upper.

Primarily the older pre 1994 ban Colt's have the larger front pivot pin holes. All current Colt uppers have the standard hole.

There were various flavors of Kool-Aid to drink once I started lurking here. I found Colt had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor I enjoyed. Heady, with just a hint of mellow smoothness.
