I just bought a Foster headspace NO-GO gage.  I put in it my AR's correctly.  All but one close on this no-go. Are all of them out of spec and have excessive headspace.???  Four of the six have bolt/carriers that came from the maker as a set with the barrel..what the heck???  It is a .223 gage...NOT a 5.56 gage...is that the problem???

Yes, a 5.56 chambered gun will close on a .223 no go gauge.

I bought the same Forster gauge set for my DPMS .233 upper.  It would not close on the GO gauge at all.  I removed the ejector and extractor as required too.

I bought a 5.56 field gauge and use that to check HS. If it won't close on that I feel I'm good to go.
