| I am looking for some help (or being pointed to) for simple straight forward directions for sighting in a new AR. I have a DPMS flat top with a 16 inch barrel and a detachable carry handle and of course the A2 sights which I'm not particularly comfortable with. I will be shooting 55 gr bullets. (I'm sure this has been asked before). I have done some basic research and believe I want to zero at 50 yards to be on target again at 200 meters. The range I have access to is in yards out to 100 yards. I am however open to suggestions for any type of LE zero. I have attempted to follow some other directions but get confused towards the end. Particularly the CAA carry handle I have seems to have 5 clicks between the 3 and 4 not the 3 or 6 clicks the instructions call for. Any help would be appreciated. .....Also is the proper position for the carry handle to be flush with the front of the platform? Again thanks. |

Here's a link to a site with different BSZs. Maryland Shooters
The handle should be flush with the front of the upper. |

Ok, I have attempted to follow Lt. Colonel Santose's directions for the 50 yard/200meter zero. Besides coming to the conclusion that the carry handle I bought is cheap, the problem I am having is that when I flip the aperture to reveal the hole, it is not an allen wrench type set screw it appears to be straigh slot. After bending two very fine screw drivers I believe rear elevation wheel is not going to be loosened, at least not very easily. So I guess my question is, can I just treat it like a fixed rear A1 sight, zero at 50 yards with the large aperature and still have the same results at 200 meters? I would be very content with flat accurate shooting out to 100 yards. Thanks.
...I also figured out it was 6 clicks between 3 and 4 and not 5 clicks. |
