Is Smith vortex flash hider long enough to make a 14.5in barrel 16in. I know it must be pinned and welded to satisfy ATF.

I agree Smith Vortex are fine plus also other long flash hiders like, YHM Phantom, Sabre Defence long A2 style, Troy, and others.
Make sure you don't upgrade to a single piece railed handguard after you install your permanent flash hider. Some railed handguard design requires the gas block and flash hider be removed before installation, which means that you have to tear apart your perm FH before installing the new rails. |
