I was thinking of buying a bolt action .223, but have recently thought of maybe buying a precision AR15 instead.  I have no knowledge on which one to buy or what would be a good setup for long range accuracy.  Bushmaster Varminter?? DPMS Panther Bull 20?  any reviews on accuracy of these?    Looking for some help on what would be a good setup.

THanks in advance for any help

you'll find happy owners of most all factory brands here. Some cost a few buck's more than others.

I own complete factory uppers from a few companies. I guess as far as one upper shooting good groups with a variety of loads from 30 gr. Bergers to 69 SMK's. the 2 RRA Predator Pursuit uppers get the nod.

I bought a second RRA Predator P because the first was so accurate. They both do very well for affordable factory uppers and are a bit lighter than bull barrel set up's..

I have some DPMS 16 and 20 stainless bull barrel factory uppers that do well with the handloads THEY LIKE. Also a older Bushy VMatch the same.

The RRA Predator P's just are far less picky and print a wide range of loads very well for me. Who knows, maybe I got 2 exceptional PP uppers?

good luck and do alot of reading as there are some semi-custom uppers that don't cost that much more the factory uppers. If you're going for accuracy you'll need to feed it good ammo.

Buying a quality accuracy rig and shooting shit ammo is akin to running a vintage muscle car on 85 octane pump gas.

be prepared, with todays prices on AR's, you're going to spend ALOT more on a precision AR than you would spend on a Precision bolt gun.

A remington 700 police in .223 can be had all day for $680-720 throw a base and rings on it and you're done.

With a precision AR build youre looking at closer to $15000-2000.

ask me how i know!
