One of my Ar's won't feed the next round most of the time.  I put a different BCG in it and it ran fine so it has to be the BCG.  I took a few pictures does anything look off that would be causing this?  This bolt is a BCM bolt with less than 1k rounds.  What to do.  Oh I tried different ammo and mags and it made no difference...

Nothing like a bolt action AR-15...

On a side note I tried out my new CMMG 22 conversion kit it ran great and was fun blasting away at only 3-4 cents/ round...

The opening of your gas key looks smashed, and that stake job looks a little extreme.

That gas key might make it hard for the bolt to return to battery, since the gas tube is having trouble mating up with it.

ETA: Get another bolt carrier if you can, just to see what happens when you replace it.

So you think that dent could be causing that?  I know I could get a new carrier but I don't know why it did that and I don't want to pay for another one (if I could even get one in todays environment)

Yeah, it could. Sorry I didn't see that you said you already replaced it.

Gas key/gas tube alignment is pretty critical for a smooth operating bolt carrier, if there's a smash in the gas key of course that's going to make it hard for the gas tube to push into it.

Could I buy a new gas key and install it myself or is that too hard/need special tools?  They have one at Bravo for $20.

Sure, get a new key and put it on. There is a thread about staking it, I'll find it for you.

It's easy to do on your own.

Make sure you torque the screws down.  A dab of red loctitie on these screws wouldn't hurt.  When you stake it, you can do it like it's shown in the -23 manual, page 3-27.  Link to -23 Manual  The trick here is not to hit the screws with the tool you're using to do the staking, you want to move metal from the key towards the screw heads so pressure is put on the heads laterally to keep them from turning.

Use a 1/4" or3/8" line up pin or any tapered peice of steel and insert into the end of gas ket an apply force with hand or hammer and open up gas key and straighten it out or should I say reconform it. Why spend money you don't have to.

It's a $20 part. Are you really going to trust your life with something that you straightened out with a piece of metal instead of just replacing it? I wouldn't even mess with it.

Id try to fix yourself.  If theres any hiccups at all, then just replace it.
