Smith and Wesson new ones may be a little better than the others, but they're about the same really.  Luck of the draw.  If you stake the gas keys and castle nut and get an extractor upgrade, they'll all treat you fine.

So whats with everyone and staking castle nuts?

Mine are not staked and I shoot about 100 rounds a week through my AR and my stock still hasn't fallen off

Then again I do have the tools to fix it if it ever got loose.

I would say Stag and S&W would be my first choices, followed by Bushmaster, followed by RRA.

Only problem I have ever had with a castle nut coming loose was on a non-staked piston rifle.

S&W

But my S&W was actually built by Stag because it was a eariler one. The carrier key was staked by the "Stag method" before Colt did it "properly". It never "failed" me even after 1000 rounds.

My personal AR is a Stag 2T...I love it.  My duty AR is a Bushmaster with a heavy 16" barrel.....I don't like the heavy barrel,,,,but I have had no problems with it either.

Want to see how your rifle will perform go through 500 to 1000 rounds in a day...bad or hot weather prefered and youll see if your rifle has what it takes to run along with your knowledge to make it run in a given weather condition.Lube it well and let her rip and see.No offense but if somethings gonna go wrong or somethings not staked right or durable enough you wont pick it up shooting 100 rounds a week. The only way to tell is to run it hard on alot more rounds in a given day.Either the rifle your skills or both will decide how well it runs and for how long.

Bushmaster (Personal Favorite, so might be biased on this one), RRA (The best out of the box between the 4), S&W, and then Stag

All make great ARs, and good luck finding any of them.

All are fine guns that will do what you want them to.  I would opt for building your own. Get a lower and pick your fav. parts from there.
