I have  a DPMS .22 upper and would like more mags or larger compacity mags.  DPMS does not have any and has no suggestions.  Any suggestions?

I have two dedicated DPMS uppers and mag availability has been a real problem since DPMS stopped selling the dedicated uppers and conversion kits.  There is no source for mags that I'm aware of.  Black Dog Machine is supposed to be releasing a high capacity mag which is supposed to work with the Colt/DPMS conversion kits and dedicated uppers.  Until  BDM brings out his mag your only source is EE or other online sources like gunbroker.com.  I know where people have adapted Ciener conversion kits to work in their DPMS dedicated uppers.  This requires milling the Ciener chamber insert to match the barrel protrusion in the upper receiver to where it works similarly to the DPMS bolt.  You also have to widen the extractor notch in the right side of the barrel because the extractor on the Ciener bolt is a little lower on the right side than  the factory DPMS bolt.  This is a viable option because Ciener mags are currently plentiful and not very expensive.  The last 10 round DPMS mags I bought were about $22 to 23 but I haven't found any for about 6 months.  The last post BDM had indicated his mags would be released in January of 2009 but as far as I know they haven't  been released.  The DPMS is basically a copy of the Colt conversion kit with two extractors.  The magazines for the Colt conversion kit have a tab on the top which goes in the bottom of the conversion chamber insert.  When DPMS built their bolt assembly they deleted the tab and corresponding opening in the bottom of the chamber insert.  The only way a Colt mag will work in a DPMS is if you remove the tab off the Colt mag.  There are several threads on the DPMS dedicated uppers in the pistol/ rimfire section on AR15.com.
