I am getting as many lowers as I can afford before you know what is going to happen. I am thinking about getting 2 uppers for each lower because the barrel will eventually wear out. The lower could be replace with a LPK once that wears out.

The question is for those who has fired alot of rounds(>5000). Has anyone still use their original lower without any problems? Will the trigger pin holes eventually wear out? Should I think about matching 1 lower per barrel just in case?

The Air Force still has lowers from the 1960's that are used hard everyday.  As long as you don't have a kaboom that breaks everything I would guess the lower would never wear out.  It might get a little loose or sloppy but never wear out.

Yep, they have all the oldest rifles in CATM.  They get shot 100 rounds almost everyday, seldomly get a good cleaning, and have people treating them like shit on a concrete shooting pad because they don't own them.

That's about 26,000 rounds a year for who knows how many years.  Each rebuilt A1 lower probably has close to a million rounds on it.  They still function like new.

Really.

Sounds about the same as the way they treat 'em in the army. But, like you said, they keep going.

Even some of the rifles the AF uses in the AOR are old as hell. I've seen a few that dont even have model designations on the lower. (and are still F/A)

Tag to see if anyone comes along with knowledge about "trigger pin holes wearing out."

Me, I've never heard of it.

Properly cared for, a receiver will outlast the shooter. I have some 03 Springfields now 90 years old and still going strong.

They should last a helluva lot longer than that....

Look at the IDF there still using some rifles that are 30 years old or more. The M16 is one tough rifle.

If you are really anal about the trigger/hammer pin holes just get some KNS pins and
shoot the damb thing.
