Hey guys,
I picked up my lower reciever about a week ago and have most of the parts on order or they are ready to be picked up. The only issue I have encountered is with the gas block, gas tube, and quad rail...how do i know which of these parts will fit my 16" barrel? I have noticed that there are several different lengths for all of these parts. Thanks in advance for any input, |

Is it a midlength? Rifle length? Carbine length?
If your 16" barrel has a standard carbine length gas port, you will need a carbine length gas tube. The gas block depends on the diameter/width of your barrel. I'm sure somebody can give you specifics about which size gas block certain diameter barrels use, but a lightweight barrel will use a smaller diameter gas block and a heavier barrel will require a larger sized gas block. You need to figure out exactly what profile your barrel is. If you are using the standard front sight base (big triangle shaped front sight) a 7 inch rail system, also referred to as carbine length, will fit. There are other length rails that will extend around your front sight base, giving you extra rail space, but 7 inches is the basic length for a carbine. |
