I want to replace the trigger in my SPR  clone with a Geissele DMR trigger. The description in the Brownells catalog says this comes with an oversize hammer pin.
I really leary of doing anything to a lower (in this time anyway) that would alter it from original spec. I've used RRA two-stage triggers with KNS 2nd Gen anti-rotational pins before, for this same reason. I'm wondering if I can do the same here. If anybody has any experience with such please advise.
Thanks

You cannot use KNS pins with the HiSpeed triggers.

The pins are matched to the triggers.  The pins are made to fit very snug in the receiver to allow the trigger and hammer to move, while the pins do not rotate.  The oversize pin is in case your receiver has an oversized hole.

Other than KNS pins are a stupid wste of money, the Geissele Hammer doesnt have the pin in the middle like normal hammers. In short, dont do it.

I just installed a Geissele DMR in a Mega Lower.

The trigger came with two pins - one regular - one oversized

The regular Geissele pin was damn tight but the pin from the RR LPK was tight too.

Trigger kicks ass - do it and don't look back.

Just got my second one from ADCO. Good guys to deal with, very fast  shipping.

There is no better trigger for an AR on the planet. Period.

The oversize pin is only oversized by half a mil or so, its really not much.  When you tap it into your lower it is still a clearance fit so there is no damage to your lower at all.  Just use a little lube when putting the pin in.

The oversize pins should allow for less movement of the pins in the lower which results in a more consistent trigger pull.

Edit:  As stated above the KNS pins are not compatible with the high speed triggers, only the SSA triggers. This is due to the hammer pin retaining clip being off center.

Got an email from geissele and was told they don't reccomend KNS pins, but they didn't say that they can't be used...

SSAs have been available on Gunbroker since December, and Carolina Mountain Tactical and Rainier Arms both offer them on their websites.

ETA - Well, Rainier's sold out now, but CMT is still showing them in stock.

Rainier had them in stock on their website.  I stumbled across it so I ordered one and then posted the availability in another thread.  They're gone now.  I gotta say I didn't expect anyone to call BS on that.

i also got lucky with Rainier Arms also, usps dropped off my order friday.i had ordered some 20rd usgi mags but they sent 30 rounders so i called to see if they wanted them back or to reinvoice my CC for the difference, being the great guys that they are they just said to keep them.when i went to the website to reorder some 20's i saw SSA's in stock and he said they had just gotten a few in that am.needless to say "order in".i also hope to have mine here monday or tuesday.received my shipping confirmation less than an hour after i placed the order.

i was also lucky and picked one up when they first came out b4 the huge backorders.and they were only $145 back then.

i'll have 2 of them now and won't even be able to use them for a while.

damn this waiting on tax stamps thing

KNS pins are stupid?  What if your J-hook breaks and the pins start wandering out?

The Geissele pins do what KNS pins do but are free with trigger, dont stick out, and are simpler to install and remove.

Are the different models of Geissele triggers just for different competition classes?  I would like to get a SSA but I have a Colt, and they only make them with the small pin.  I am just looking for a good reliable trig for all around use.  Any recommendations between the Match, Service, and DM?

The Hi Speeds are all the same except the combination of spring weights.  Get the light and heavy springs for th efirst and second stage and you can do all 4 variations of Geissele triggers.

I just called Geissele Automatics and they currently do not make the SSA for a large pin Colt.  He said they plan to later in the year though.
