Anyone out there doing any hunting with their AR in 5.56/.223?
What sort of configs are you running and what sorts of ranges are you striking at? How big a game can would folks recommend in 5.56/.223? Thinking about getting a 30-06.... Thanks |

Here in Florida, deer are on the small side so a well placed shot from a .223, using a good bullet, it just the ticket. When using my 20" Bushmaster, I use handloaded 70gr Speer Semi-spitzers with great results.
I also use a 6mmx45mm with 90gr Semi-Spitzers as well as a 6.8 SPC, both in AR platform. Just make sure to wait on a good shot and use a well designed bullet. |
| Look around in the Outdoors forum or do a search, there is plenty of information on hunting with an AR. I use mine for predator calling, thats the main reason I got it. But I wouldn't use it on anything bigger than maybe a hog, in Kansas a .223 is not legal to use for deer and I wouldn't want to use one anyway unless it was my only option. |
