Perhaps someone could give me a definitive answer on this. There is a gentlemen selling Colt Bolts in the EE. I don't believe they are new. I wanted to grab an extra one in case mine were to fail. Would I encounter any problems putting one of these bolts into my gun and running it if mine were to fail or break? They don't appear to be heavily used and are described as "Colt manufactured bolts marked "MPC". Selected for absence of lug wear and extractor condition. Excellent condition."

Thanks.

I don't know that you will find a definitive answer, but it would be a good idea to check the headspacing if you get a used bolt.

how would one go about checking the headspace?

Buy a go/no go gauge from brownell's. It's pretty self explanatory when you see one. If the action closes on it, don't use it. In all reality I would use a bolt so long as it did not demonstrate any wear and wouldn't think twice about it. A new bolt in a barrel with an acceptable chamber is fine, but a used bolt might not be.
