I just saw a video that basically said that the military was looking for a new, more powerful calibur instead of the 5.56 and that it was looking at the 6.8mm.  I was just wondering if they are going to switch or if they're just considering.  Also is the 6.8 much different than the 5.56?

You may have better luck in the AR Variants section.  Lots on the 6.8 there.  From some articles I've read it seems like the military is more interested in caseless technology.

but not for small arms...it would cost WAY to much to make all the small arms caseless..thats more for stationary weapons for anti personel.

the 6.8 special has more bite but tends to be alittle less accurate especialy in a 16inch or less barrels.

overall its a better round for mid range but i dont think it gives enough to spend the money to change out from the 5.56...

but who knows....it may happen
