I have found a good deal on an Rock River Arms A4 flat top. Most of my searches have came up OK on this forum but I have seen a lot of negative comments on some other forums by onwers/experts.
Any one who owns an RRA AR15 care to give you oppinions? Thanks. |

| Grab it now. IN the meantime, keep looking for an LMT or maybe Colt. If you don't like the RRA, sell it, AFTER you find something else–– these days there is almost no downside potential to "investing" in an AR. If you like it, be happy! Chances are excellent that you will shoot it for many years with great satisfaction. By the time you get tired of it, you'll be building your own from separately purchased parts. |

The RRA is a very nice AR. I have had 3 different uppers with thousands of rounds and not a single problem. Good to go. If you found a deal on one that you could bring home today, than you shouldnt be wasting time on here. GO GET IT!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
You definitely need to buy it. Many people can't get anything right now. I have a rock river 16" flat top, nothing fancy. However, I would feel completely comfortable carrying it into battle or a SHTF situation. Fine quality, fine finish. The carrier key is even staked correctly. I love the gun so much I hate shooting it. In fact, my life depends on it cause I carry it on duty. You won't be dissappointed. |

Partially a status symbol of course! I owned a Colt in the early 80's and loved that rifle. Being an Armorer in the Corps at the time I figured if Colt was good for the Marines, it was good for me too. I eventually sold it when I got married and of course wish I hadn't. I have since owned other brands and while they don't have the prestige of the Colts, they never once failed to work in any less fashion. Same thing with any nice equipment, cars, guitars, jewels or whatever. There is always a standard that others are judged by. I can tell you however after handling several thousands of Colt M16A1's A2's & A4's over my career, some of the thrill wore off and we actually looked forward to seeing some other brands. |

I have a RRA that I carry as my patrol rifle at work. If I was not absolutley positve that it would go bang and put the round where I want every time I would not carry it. I have absolute faith in it.
Like as been stated above, some of the negatives are just brand bashing. Go to m4carbine.net and mention RRA and you will get a ration of shit. Its like comparing a Saturday Night Special to a top of the line 1911 racegun over there! LOL. I would not hesitate in getting one again. The only thing that I found on mine that I did not like was the staking on the gas key bolts. It was not done right in my opinion but exactly 60seconds with a punch took care of it. This may have been taken care of by RRA now as my rifle was made like 3 years ago. I have had no problems with mine over the years and all the rounds. Hope this helps J- |

RRA is a great rifle....dont listen to the stuff some people say....IMO, RRA is one of the best....
I have RRA and LMT in my collection, and while the LMT has a following of its own and is called one the best available, the RRA is not far behind You will hear staking of the key on the carrier....take my RRA's out and put them next to the LMT's and it will take a trained eye to tell which one is which.... The LMT and RRA will shoot 3/4" groups.... The triggers on the RRA are real good and the fit and finish on the RRA is much better than the LMT... I have 10's of thousands of rounds through my RRA and I have never had a FTF.... Many people call the RRA a second tier weapon, I call it a 1.5 tier... Like they all said above buy it..... |
| RRA makes a decent AR not the best but not the worst...Not mil-spec, if that matters to you...A lot of the old timers here have a bad taste in regards to RRA d/t some wildly out of spec. lowers that they put out some years back..I think they've fixed that, though IMHO their QA/QC isn't the best...IMO I wouldn't consider them a "duty gun" no matter what the DEA or Podunkville SWAT TEAM uses...Just me though and I've owned several of them over the years. |

I would tend to trust the DEA and "Podunkville" S.W.A.T. teams more than you. There are 2 posters on this thread that use them as duty weapons, and trust them. If their QC is SO bad, why would you own several of them over the years?

Great plinking AR, my dad has one that I shoot often and I enjoy it. Wouldn't use it as a duty weapon though. It's lacking in mil-spec quality components like properly staked gas keys, non MPI'd/HPT'd bolts and barrels, etc. Here we go....
Run Fra_Tra, run..Before the brainwashing zombies start spewing forth their regurgitated venom. LOL. Yeah. Mine does have a properly steaked gas key (and yes I know what one looks like) and I believe that it will hold up side by side with a colt or anyother tier 1 gun. |
|
I have 3 RRA and will own another shortly. I had a few blown primers the first day with my first AR, the entry tactical. I shit canned the Olympic ammo and have had 0 malfunctions of any kind since. Many thousands of rounds down range through my entry tactical. Over 1000 rds. of wolf without cleaning, just lubrication, no issues.
My middy and Predator pursuit have not had the volume though them as the entry tactical, but they also have had 0 failures. |
|
I have 2 RRA .223 AR's and one RRA 9mm AR. They have been excellent. Only problem I have is with the 9mm and it was due to CProducts mag issues.
They also make (well at least until recently) a very fine 1911. ETA: Only downside to a RRA is the wait. Sometimes up to 6 months. It is worth the wait though. |

Rock River are great rifles. Mine has never had one single problem. I shot M16's in the military and they were never new. The debate about properly staked gas keys is way overblown. Don't fall for that crap. A Rock River rifle assembleed in the Rock River factory is a good rifle. |

Happy with my entry tactical. Has a M4 type, (light under the hanguards) govt profile, chrome lined 1:7 Wilson barrel. Also has a RRA two stage that helps accuracy. I restaked the carrier key. It shoots about everything accurately. I've got about 2000 rounds through it without any type of failure so I feel pretty confifdent with it.
I know it doesn't have some the "milspec" features that Colt/LMT does, but for what I paid for it, I can live W/O 4150 barrel steel, MPI, etc. The nice thing is that the FSB was dead nuts on and required almost no windage adjustment a 50 yards. |
| I have a 6.8SPC RRA, no problems with it after about 1000 rounds. Only problem i had was when i changed out the gas block to put a new folding front sight on at the gunsmith. He couldn't get the gas tube out of the existing front sight gas block standard with the rifle.... i still have it, i should send it to RRA and see if they can get it out. It's just too tight i guess, the dude said he broke like 6 punches on it. But with a new gas tube and my ARMS Sillouette, it's in great shape and i haven't had one problem. |

You know, government contracts usually go to the lowest bidder, meaning I wonder just how good these Colts and FNs really are. ;) |
