I ordered my AFM upper on Dec. 5th, with a 4-8 week wait.  In the meantime, I have been finishing my build as best I can by putting together my lower and ordering a few accessories.  Does anyone have one of these uppers, and if so, how do you like it?  Any complaints, praises, ect?  I did a search and came up with only two prior topics about them, neither of which was really helpful.

If this just dies without any real responses about the product, I will try to have someone who is a competent marksman here near me check it out and see what it is capable of.  I would do it myself, but I am still green to rifle marksmanship, so stay tuned.

AFM (American Firearms Mfg.) is out of Utah, run by a guy named Mitch; word is he was 20yr w/ sniper qual, don't really know.  Receivers are done in shop.  LPK are from mil contract suppliers.

I have a stripped lower; waiting on LPK.  I have seen an upper, looks excellent.  Barrels are certainly mil spec, which means you will get as good a chance at an accurate barrel as with any top maker, without going into match grade barrels.  As you can see in the "noveske groups" thread near this one, even the most coveted chromelined barrel still does not shoot with a top match barrel from the same company!

My local dealer is completely gaga over AFM, and puts it above RRA in quality, right at the top.

Nice!  How is the fit/finish on the lower?

AFM might be nice guys.

They might make nice lowers, they might make great uppers.

That said, they will 'mislead' (being nice) about simple things like telling you they make their own magazines.  They don't, so what else will they mislead a customer about.

I had a couple of threads about this last year but they have dropped off the pages.

EDIT TO ADD:

You need to be a team member to access this in the archives, but here is my thread on AFM.

Can you help out the non-team members and give us a Readers Digest version of your experience with AFM products please?

As I used to be a Utah resident I thought it would be nice to own products made in Utah.

AFM, from various threads here makes nothing.  They assemble from parts and pieces as do most in the industry.  Nothing wrong with that, if you're honest about it.

If you intend to try and point out that I don't have experience w/ their products, you are correct.

Buy a membership and check out the archives.   I posted my correspondence w/ AFM.

I have one of their 10" barrels. I would buy another. Nice chamber. Correctly sized gas port for the length. Ran over 250 rounds through it before cleaning and it ran 100%.

That was not my intention at all. Please forgive me if my reply came off that way.

I just have the opportunity to purchase one of their lowers and was wondering about their quality.
