I need advice.  I am a Massachusetts resident and therefore not allowed to have flash hiders on my rifles.  It is my understanding that muzzlebrakes generally increase noise and concussion and may have some flash reduction capabilities.  Are there any muzzlebrakes or other muzzle devices (that are not classified s flash hiders) that are known to have the least amount of increase in noise and concussion with the maximum amount of muzzle flash reduction?

A brake that decreases the flash signiture? Havent seen it yet. The few I've personaly tried and own make the flash "bigger", not smaller. Now if you use a dual role type such as the YHM 5C2, then yes. your signiture will decrease quite a bit. Maybe others have experienced a decrease in flash with a true comp., just not me.

EDIT: to fix poor spelling.

How about the PWS FSC556?  It's classified as non-flas suppressing by the ATF.  Here's some info:  PWS

You will be pleased with the PWS. I have one and it's much "quieter" than most brakes, very effective at reducing muzzle flip, and doesn't increase flash.

THIS

Watch the vid for fun!

ETA: The front four "prongs" are very similar in function to the Vortex (flash hider), only smaller. They reduce flash. It is a classified as a compensator.

Your rifle will become a bit louder.

Better vid for your question.

That the DNTC, not the fsc556?

Can anyone comment on a noise decrease from  the fsc556?

I test fired my 14.5 with perm. FSC556 a few days ago.  There is a noticeable increase in the noise, especially prone, but nothing major.  I haven't shot my 10.5 with the FSC556 yet!

you're saying the fsc556 has increased noise over the dntc?

Oh, I'm sorry, I misread.  No, I'm saying that the FSC556 has an increase in noise over the Vortex that I had.

Ahh ok. Yeah I'm really thinkin about pickin up one of the fsc556's but I don't want something that's ridiculously loud.

the fsc556 isn't that loud, really...

I have one currently on my Long-range, as well as my 'pistol'...  It's not so fun if you're standing next to me with the pistol =) Feels like a kick to the teeth ;)
