What exactly is the deal with the Federal XM stuff?, I'm getting conflicting answers on this.  Is it factory reject ammunition that failed QC?, or is it good ammo assembled from over run components?, or is it re manufactured from pulled down 5.56, or is it simply Federals nomenclature for Civilian Sale 5.56?  Does Federal guarantee it is loaded to 5.56 Pressures?, or do they just guarantee .223 SAAMI Pressures, but may, or may not actually be 5.56? If it's 5.56 why is it marked "For Training Use Only"?  Also what's the significance of PD?, is it XM stuff that failed QC (Again?)?, or is it just Federals code for Bulk Packaging?

I want to put back a few thousand rounds of 5.56, but DO NOT want factory rejects, or just over priced .223, that may, or may not be good enough.  I want front line ready to issue ammo, will this serve my needs?

XM193 is 55gr Full Metal Jacket boat tail.

M855 is 62gr Full Metal jacket with SS109 penetrator core.

XM193 is more common and usually less expensive.  You can find it new or re-manufactured depending....
