Saw a RRA at a local dealer for just under $1000.00....I have not been able to find too much info on this forum about them, but did find a few positive reviews elsewhere...

Whats the bottom line on these?  Worth buying given what may happen later on down the road, or should I put my money towards something else?

Decide what features you want in an AR & make your decision based off of that intel.

Nothing wrong with RRA.  Price is, well, that's the way prices are going these days and it isn't too out of line.

Go for it!!

If it is new for under a $1000 I think I would snap it up.  I love mine.

Read this article, it is what sold me on RRA.

I have two RRA AR's. I really like both of these rifles and have several thousand rounds through them. Very EXCELLENT rifles. Great fit and finish.....solid guns.... I would stake my life on them.

I would own it for that money.

RRA's are good to go. As you may be aware, they have (or had) some Government contracts. Most here on this site have had no issues with them. If you can find one-buy it.

My Entry Tactical was one of my favorite Ar's.

Chrome line barrel is not standard on RRA .       This is the only reason I will not buy one off the shelf.

I 'm thinking ordering an upper from RRA web right now.

CL 1:7 are now very common on many RRA rifles built and sent from the factory....

FYI. My RRA Elite Comp is their "higher end" with a chrome lined 1:9 16" barrel. Solid middy. It appears to have an hbar barrel profile.

I actually could probably afford to get a colt LE 6920 if I wanted to....but Im also trying to stock up an ammo and dont want to spend an extra 500 or more bucks just because it has a pony...

I have the same exact rifle (with the exception of the carry handle) and love it.  $1000 is a really good price right now.  Get it.

Just emailed the guy and told him to hold it for me...

Now, second question...I have a bushie carbon 15 in 9 mm....should I:

trade it for the RRA
sell it elsewhere now
sell it elsewhere later
keep it

I'm a little late on this one, but I'm gonna give my .02 anyway. I have an A2 middy and it's a great rifle, extremely accurate. Also, they have contracts with FBI and DEA so they can't be too bad. That also helps to explain the back-up in ordering and the resulting price hike of those dealers have on hand. I'm glad to see you had the guy hold it for you, I think you'll be pleased with your choice. Happy shooting!!!

You can upgrade to the chrome lined option for $40.  Most of the uppers suppiler's had in stock are chrome lined.  When I bought my RRA upper, Legal Transfers only had them in chrome lined.

All of my rifles are chrome lined, but I could really careless.  While nice to have, most of us will likely never need the rifle in a spot where the chrome lining is warranted.

Is your BM Carbon 15 9mm something you like? Or would you prefer another AR? It's a personal decision for you to make. Right now, AR prices are way up so you could get some extra dough by selling it or trading it if you're not that attached to it.

If you're not that attached to it, sell it, trade it and get what you want.

If you really don't want the 9mm, now is a good time to sell it or trade it in.  That would free up some $$$ for optics, mags, and ammo.

While I think that 9mm ARs, MP5s, and other subguns are neat, I think that 5.56 is a far better choice for just about everything maybe with the exception of firing multiple rounds into a target that is 10 ft away.  If you only have one, go with the 5.56.

I think for that price it's not a bad deal. The shop I picked up my AR transfer today was asking $ 1800 for a Rock River.

A Bushmaster carbon would definitely a sell item.  The market is right for AR-15 sales but if someone did some research on the Bushmaster carbon, they may get scared about buying it at top dollar.  Go on Gunbroker and other gun selling sites to see what that firearm is commanding in price.

BTW, I've owned a RRA Entry Tactical for a year and a half now.  It is a great shooter and quality AR-15.  I got mine for a little over $900 NIB shipped.

I love my RRA, but if you can afford / find  a colt 6920

That would be my choice.

Nothing wrong with RRA, but I would get a Chrome lined barrel on

Maybe trade the Bushmaster for the 6920 and get the RRA too.

If it's chrome lined, then buy it.  As for your other rifle, if you can swing it, buy the new one and take the time(shouldn't take much) to sell the 9mm rather then taking a bath on a trade.

Its not that I am attached to the carbon 15, Ive just heard some bad things about them lately...

as far as the 6920 goes, they ARE expensive these days..if a gun ban does not happen next year, will prices come back down?

Just got my first AR a couple of months ago, and I bought the RRA barely used from a local gun shop (got it for $825 used just before the heat of the buying madness). It sounds like most AR's are the same, and are mostly interchangeable. So, you can always buy in to a system, and upgrade specific parts down the road if you want.

After coming from the handgun world for many many years, the function, form, accuracy and ease of use of the AR is fantastic. After taking mine to the range several times, I finally got to shoot on my own over Thanksgiving (no range police, rules and target restrictions). I shot that sucker for almost 5 hours sighting in, and just plinking. The only reason I didn't shoot longer was because I ran out of ammo. It is truly a pleasure to shoot. I can't believe it's taken me this long to get one.

Rock River Arms calls their case a "safe case" because the only way you can carry a AR-15 in that case is if you separate the upper and lower receivers.  The benefits are safety and compactness in the case design.

I have a RRA Elite tactical, Lower for my SPR build and just sold a Entry tactical and haven't had any problems with any of them. Having shot Colts for 17+ years in the military, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another RRA. quit worrying about the "TEIR" fanatics. If you are just going to the range and maybe the worst case senerio self defense use, get the RRA and spend the rest in ammo.
