Hey I have a dpms 308 24" Its about 11 lbs empty. Im new to the whole shooting thing. I know it depends on the person, but is this generally considered too heavy to stand up and shoot with? I continue to read comments that the 24" barrel is just too heavy compared to the 18 dpms 308's but the weights of all the dpms 308's are within a pound or so of eachother. Even the SASS weights more then my 24". Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the "heavier" rifles. And I know I can take it out and see for myself but Im sure there is a general consensus on this sort of thing.

Way more than I want to hold and shoot. I looked at one just prior to the election. I wish I would have bought it now

Anyway, when I looked I figured it would have a bipod on it and I would shoot it mostly at the range off of a bench.

I guess you will have to try it and see how it works. That will be the best answer

Ya i bought a 6.5lb bushmaster too. But think it would be nice not to be restricted to a bench with the 308. I guess Ill just have to wait and see.....Ya I didnt realize How lucky I was until this past week when I was doing a google search of the two rifles I bought and saw the prices 500$ more then I payed. The dpms 24" is on random broker sites for around 1700. I payed 1100 with the jp trigger. Thats pretty crazy for the difference of about a month and a halfs time.

Whats kind of crazy is if you had 10 rifles at 900$ And easily sold em for the 1700 asking price now youd have 8 grand in your pocket. I cant imagine the fortune some guys are making. Its better then oil stock.
