Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am not sure what is going on. I sighted my 6920 in at 50 yards. I put target out to 100 yards and the rifle shot low. That makes sense to me. What doesnt make sense is that it also shoots low at 25 yards but dead on at 50 yards. Is it the shooter or something else. Does gravity not pull the bullet down from the instance it leaves the barrel? Also, how close of a group is possible for the average shooter at 100 yards with factory sights. Thanks

Its because your barrel is lower than your sights so it if its zeroed at 50 it will shoot low at 25 because the barrel is lower. Lets say you aim at the wall right in front of you, Look at your barrel its pointing below your sights. Its hard for me to explain but I hope you get the idea

If your carbine is properly sighted in at 50 yards, your point of impact should be high at 100 yards.

This is what was always drilled into my head when I was in the ARMY. We zero at 25m because the bullet path is almost the same at that distance.

With a 50y zero if you're hitting LOW at 100y, then you are probably pulling the rifle in an attempt to SEE the impact.

So a rifle zero of 25 yards will also be dead on between 25 and 100 yards?

Hell No!

After 25 yards the bullet will keep rising till around 200 yards where it will be around 10-12" high.  It will be roughly 6" high at 100y.
