OK, I recently put an AR together for a friend of mine. DPMS lower with a carbine, flat-top upper from J&T. Now, I've put several lowers together before and have never run into any issues. Well, my friend just left from my house sayint that he went to test fire the gun and had problems. He said that the we would chamber the round and fire the gun, then the gun would chamber the next round, but the trigger would not be "reset". I found this hard to believe because when I examined the gun if I would manually pull the charging handle back far enough to eject the spent round and strip a new round from the magazine it would have to cock the hammer back. I told him I really didn't see anything wrong with the gun and told him to try a different type of ammo.

Has anyone had this problem or know what it could be. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

The lower receiver parts are assembled wrong.

It worked for you because you didn't hold the trigger down as
you charged another round, as you would in actual firing.

Check the disconnector spring?

Ammo has nothing to do with it.

Well, when I manually cock the hammer back it seems to function fine. Is this still possible?

That's not the disconnector!

Cock it, pull the trigger and hold the trigger down.

While holding the trigger down try to re-cock it?

It should re-cock.

Now, slowly release the trigger and you'll hear a small thump
as the trigger re-sets to the sear.

The amount of knowledge on this forum amazes me at times.... if only doctors were as efficient.

I wonder if the disconnector spring was put in upside down?  If i am not mistaken - usually there is a somewhat "tapered" end.  Maybe?  Many years back i had installed one with the smaller end down and seemed to have a  similar issue.  Let us know.
