I picked up a DMS-1 from Midway-USA about a year ago to go on a middy project that I was working on at the time but changed my mind. It has been sitting out in the garage unloved until this morning. I decided to put it on my BCM M4 to use as a pig rig.
I just need to get up to the range and zero it.

A couple weeks ago I had my first day out with my .300 BLK upper on an M16A1 lower. I got it sighted in perfectly at 100 yards. Function was flawless, and accuracy was quite good. I was shooting 125 grain Hornady SST, 17.5 grains WW296, CCI 400 primer, Hornady brass.
The upper is a 12.5" AAC. It's topped with a 3.5-10 Leupold set in an AR Stoner mount. I considered the 9" AAC upper, but there is a fair amount of ballistic loss going from 12.5" to 9". Finally I decided the 12.5" upper was the one for me. I am currently pending on a Thunder Beast 30P-1 suppressor. Once I get the can, it will screw right on this barrel with the flash hider removed. im curious? i notice a lot of these varmit builds running really high rings? if youre not running backup sights, wouldnt it be ideal to run lower rings? i have a burris pepr mount, but it seems so high.. medium rings feel much better to me. i can understand its height if you have buis mounted under it, but if not, why have your scope 3/4" higher than needed?

The standard fixed sights are about 2.6" above the center of the bore, or about 1.5" above the top of the receiver rail. Most mounts or rings designed for the AR15 will put the centerline of the scope at about the same height as the fixed sights (1.5" above the receiver rail), but if a lower scope height works for you then so be it. I think for most folks (me included) the standard AR height is more comfortable and natural for a proper cheek weld. |

RRA 20" heavy barrel YHM Diamond rail Burris PEPR with a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 A2 stock JP Enterprise Bennie Coolie compensator I'm currently trying to trade the rail for a longer one to cover up the gas block but until then, it will have to do. Might throw a SWFA SS on it in a few months as well. |

My current varmint/target rifle. I had already built and still own a couple of other AR's in other configurations and was/am very happy with them, but wanted a dedicated target/varmint rifle. I was able to shoot a few of my buddies rifles and kind of knew what I wanted to build when I ran across this rifle on sale at Scheel's one day. So not technically a build...more of a bought...the only thing I didn't like about it (and still don't) is the decoration on the aluminum handguard. I could really do without the paw prints. I love the two stage trigger, the larger charging handle (they call it a Badger Tactical Latch) and even the extra large trigger guard. The muzzle brake really works well and actually really does keep the muzzle down. You can stay on target shot after shot. I added an IWC rail sling mount and a Noveske end plate sling mount, and the P.E.P.R. mount and Nikon M223 3-12x42 scope. I also added the Larue/Harris BRM-S/LT706 combo bipod. I don't like the killflash when using the scope, but it looks cool for a picture. This is the nicest and smoothest shooting AR that I own, and easily the most accurate. The target pictured was taken after my first range trip with it. I was shooting 5 shot groups of about 6 or 7 differnt kinds of ammo I had. This was the best 5 shot group @ 100 yards and is factory 68 grain ammo. Even the Cheap 55gr FMJ shoots well in this rifle however. My future plans are to change out the handguard for one without paw prints and sharpie over the "Fred Eichler" lettering on the lower. and that's about it. I like everything else about it. My wife and daughter want me to keep the pawprint handguard. 
Edit: The rifle is a factory RRA LAR-15 Fred Eichler series Predator.

It's nothing special compared to what most of you guys have, but it got/gets the job done and it hasn't given me any problems. Edit: The exit wound makes it look like it was a bad/unethical shot. I hit it in the lungs, it was quartering me |

well heres mine, its one i put together with a BCI lower, a bravo co blem upper and a 16 inch m4 cut barrel. most of the the rest is wilson combat along with the accutac. i know the hand guards not the best and its heavy as hell i plan on MIs light weight keymod but i wanna finish some other stuff first. and theres a local dip shop thats gonna dip it in kryptek highland when its done

It's got a 20" WOA varmint barrel in 1-8 twist, a Geissele G2S trigger, and a Nikon M223 3-12x scope. To paraphrase The Most Interesting Man in the World, "I don't always shoot groups like these, but when I do, I look for excuses to post them on arfcom." |

I have a bull barrel with just a free float tube im not to thrilled with. The rail is a Midwest Industries SS series. The barrel is WOA's standard varmint barrel with flutes. BCG is also WOA. The upper is a run of the mill Surplus Ammo (I think Aero Precision makes them). For 100 yards, light bullets (50-55 grain) work much better than heavier ones. The rail is pretty large in diameter compared to many. It doesn't contact anything inside. The gas tube is nice and loose in the upper too. |
