I've seen a number of people at the range with little bits of padding or something on the deflectors of their AR's. What's that for?

It is to keep the deflecting brass from 'hurting' the the brass deflector...

Because a fucking chunk of velcro looks better than little gold marks...

some people do it to keep the brass from getting dents.reloading.

I reload but don't care about dents.



and there are those that fear scratching the deflector.

Think of it as a tampon for thier delicate ar.  And they have to preserve their gun's brass because they have none.... Oh...  ZIIIIING!
