I'm fairly new to the whole AR family, but I am an experience shooter. What should I look for in an AR? I've seen A1, 2, and 3....whats the difference? If I were to order a "kit" off the internet and then get a decent lower reciever, would that do me justice or am I just asking for trouble that way? What kind of barrel twist should I look for, etc.....I have a million questions, but a basic run down of what I should look for and pros/cons of each option would be great. I would like to keep the damage to my wallet to less than 1500 or 1600 bucks. |
| If you want a flat top upper receiver, you want an A3. I would recommend buying a complete upper and building your own lower. It's the best way to learn how your AR functions and you can save money since you won't be paying the excise tax on a complete firearm. There is a lower receiver assembly guide right here on this forum, building a lower receiver is simple. |
| buy a LMT defender 2000 with a sopmod stock and 2 stage trigger.....your going to be right at about $1400 at most and you get one of the best rifles out there...it will also have a 1/7 barrel twist so your rifle will be able to handle the heavier bullets if you like.....buy it and call it a day |
