I am looking for the overall length for an AR with a 16" barrel and the A2 stock.  I am trying to determine if I need to get an 18" barrel to make it legal for hunting.

Thanks

Unless your state has a min length requirment for a hunting firearm, you are fine. You meet the standard for federal law for legality.

According to the bushmaster website, overall length is 36.25".  I think this is with the stock extended, but it should be close.

Wisconsin requires a minimum 16" barrel and 26" minimum overall length.  The barrel is not a problem as I would get a 16" or 18", but it is the overall length I am concerned with.

Thanks for the help.

Perfect.  I was trying to find this info on the websites, never went to Bushmaster's.  Looks like I am good to go witha 16" barrel then.

Thanks!

You'll be just fine.

MI on the other hand, the gun has to be at least 30" long, with the standard ATF legal length barrel of 16". I have always wanted an AK underfolder, but from what I hear, I have to register it as a pistol under MI law, because of our dickhead politicans...

I think my 16" with a collapsable stock is around 30-32" fully collapsed, so you should be good to go.
