Check out the DPMS Sportical. It is a basic 16" with flattop receiver with a pencil barrel. They run about $600-$700. It doesn't come with any sight though.

I just bought a complete upper and a complete lower from Stag for $720, plus tax and shipping.

No gunsmithing, just pop them together.

Waiting to pick it up.

Is that the one with no forward assist and ejection port cover?

Good rear and front sights will add almost $200

I believe Pete from Legal Transfers is still running a special on a complete Stag 2H upper (everything minus stripped lower receiver) for $600 in the Equipment Exchange.  check over there in the group buy section...should be going until election day.

Del-Ton Kit

(i added the carry handle for sights to start with ).

Add $100 dollars for a lower and whatever ffl charges ($20)

$660 for a good gun, that will last.

Best value? I dunno, Might give that one to stag.  Model 2 kit from ar15sales - 633 + 120 for lower and ffl = $753.  Great gun.

I bought a lower from Robbie at a Houston gunshow.  It was a fully assembled Stag lower.  I then put a Bravo Company upper on it with a Bravo Co. BCG.  I could not be happier.  It all came to about $750.  I bought the lower last year so the price has probably gone up some.  This is the only parts gun that I have put together that was reliable from the first shot (except for blown primers, not the rifle's fault).  I think this is the best way to go, YMMV.

Just bought a Remington R-15 from Dick's Sporting Goods for $725 before taxes, after a coupon and mail in rebates.
