Is there anything that can be done about the buzz or vibration from the buffer spring when shooting.

Byond a nice film of lube....nope. But the lube often does help a good bit.

I wondering if a plastic or delrin coated spring might fix this problem. I think the AR is one of the best platforms in the assault rifle world, but that damn spring buzz and sound makes it sound like a piece of junk in my opinion. I had a AK owner, of all people, as me today at the range what that noise was.

Try a chrome silicon spring, maybe even a flat wire one. You might get less sound from it. You can also go with a heavier buffer what will pop back into battery a little less roughly and you will get less vibration in the spring.

Personally, I would just suggest that you get used to it. I assume you are using a full length rifle buffer? They make the most noise.

That’s your rifle talking to ya’. When ya’ don’t hear the “sproing” your out of ammo.

Thats a nice thing about the AR is you can tell when you are out of ammo because it sounds different when the spring doesnt release...

am i the only one that has never heard this 'buzz'?  i have been professionally shooting the M16/M4 variants for 16 years and ahve built/owned 5 AR carbines and have no idea what the buzz about 'buzz' is.  I see these posts and am perplexed.  Perhaps i am deaf in that ear.

Sometimes it may be called sproing. I've heard it on some rifles, but never paid attention to it.

Indeed.

Usually we get sproing related threads when a new user happens to have the A2 stock and spring combination.
