After having read  A LOT of threads talking about chrome moly and chrome moly with chrome lining, I still have one question.

If I have a chrome moly barrel without chrome lining, do I honestly need to worry about it rusting on me? Save for going for a swim with it, I imagine it would be OK. Anyone want to chime in?

It will be fine if properly taken care of.  The purpose of Chrome is when there are circumstances where you can't take proper care of it ...

Thousands of AR owners (and most other rifles for that matter) use non-lined barrels.  The question is: is the added longevity and corrosion resistance worth $40 to you?

OK. That makes sense. Honestly, I wouldn't mind shelling out the extra cash for one if I could actually find a 14.5" M4 barrel that's chrome lined IN STOCK somewhere. I've tried a few places including CMMG, but I'm starting to think I might just go with a non-lined barrel.

Tried Del-ton?  Bought a 16" chrome lined from them last week...
