| I have finally decided to add a stock to my anvil arms lower I built last October. My dang ak bug keeps me from finishing my first ar. Anyways what is the verdict of the moe vs. ctr. Moe comes in at $57 shipped and the ctr at $93 shipped. I would hate to buy the Moe and be dissapointed with how tight it locks up or the lack there of. So those that have had either or both or one or the other please let me know what you think of it. Also who has the best milspec buffer tube and spring? Sorry if this is a repeat, but I did search and could not come up with anything. |

The MOE stock doesn't come with the latch lock or through holes for push button sling swivels. I have CTR stocks and with the latch lock left unlocked, there is some play of the stock on the extension tube. With the latch lock locked all play is eliminated and the stock feels solid. Best Mil-Spec extension tube in my opinion is the VLTOR. You can get these, mil spec springs, and H buffers from Brownells. You can also get Midwest Industry heavy duty push button sling loops from them also.HTH |

I've got both, and so far, I'm at a draw as to which is better. I really don't think you can go wrong with either. The MOE stock locks up just right (not too loose, not too tight), but the CTR does have the locking mechanism that really locks the stock up. There's the lack of a QD sling mount in the MOE, but that's not an issue with me as each rifle has it's own sling. I like QD slings, but I can live without them as well. And finally there is the price issue. If price is a concern, the MOE is quite a bit cheaper as you've already stated. Again, I don't think you'll go wrong with whichever you choose. I hope this helped a bit. |
| Thanks, that did help. I think I am going to go with the MOE for now since it seems a used moe or ctr goes in the ee used for about $5 cheaper than I found them new. So if the MOE is not for me I could always dump it and get the CTR or something else. Now I just have to decide if I want to go milspec or commercial |
