I just had the factory barrel cut down and re-crowned. I had a chance to buy a factory SBR upper from a guy on the EE, but he wanted like $900 for it... I didn't even pay that for my gun. Anyway, I just paid to have it cut and it works like a dream! Thanks everyone. I really love my new Colt! |
Not to hijack your thread...(awesome gun I have a 6920. 6520 and a 6450) but you sent your 6450 back to Colt Defense to be cut and threaded? (10.5in barrel?)..I am in the process of SBRing my 6450 and was thinking of using ADCO but, but if the factory does it, I'll send it there...  Anyway your going to love the 6920, IT'S THE STANDARD BY WHICH ALL OTHER AR'S ARE MEASURED!

I'm sorry, I didn't have it sent back to the factory. I just had a machinest friend of mine that does barrels cut it down and recrown it. That would be pretty cool if Colt would do it and I'd have that done too, but I'm pretty sure they don't. Adco should do a fine job or AR15barrels.com would be good too. It is such a great little SBR.. very light and 100% reliable with good mags. It is a must have for any Colt fan. |
I'd do it for sure. I had to sell my Stag lower/bushmaster upper to finance the Colt. I shopped around a bit and found a guy off of gun broker that had them for $1159 each. If you do a bit of shopping you should have no trouble getting one for about what you could sell your S&W for. |
