Was shooting my RRA entry tactical yesterday, 85 degrees out, burned thru about 150 rounds when I had a jam cleared same, when I noticed a live round didnt look right.  The bullet was pushed back almost all the way into the casing.  I thought this does not look good, and when I looked in the chamber a brass was still seated in the chamber.  I knew that the last round went down range, and I tried pulling the charging handle back several times, with no effect.  Luckily a buddy had a cleaning rod and I punched the brass out.  When I looked at it the extractor had ripped clean thru the casing at the bottom.  I was shooting Winchester 55 grain white box.  After clearing same, I shot another 90 rounds no problem.  But being the cynic, should I be worried or was this just a bad round or an issue

If your chamber looks clean my take is it was and over sized case that caused the problem.

how old is the gun? round count? could have been the white box. i have heard of some guys taking the sharp edges off the extractor if this happens much or just replacing it.

Rifle is 6 months old, approximately 600 rounds thru her.  I know I should have taken a pic, but was so excited about going shooting forgot camera, and that will be the last time I go shooting without a cleaning rod.
