| What is involved in making a 223 chambered Ar15 - into a WYLDE chambered weapon - where 556 can be used? How much$$? |

Superior barrels talked a little about this. Not a direct quote, but it went something like this. Not alot of good barrel people like to ream out barrels for the fact that once you take it out, you can't replace it and there is no real garuantee that it will be 100%" or something to that affect. I would just buy a new barrel in wylde. There are some good deals out there too! |

Its not going to happen. ETA I know its possible to lop off sections of match barrels on bolt guns and re-chamber, but semi autos are tough to mess with due to the gas port and other things that need to be kept constant. By the time you get everything done its going to cost as much or more than a new match barrel. What type of barrel are you talking about? Stainless or CMV? Chrome lined is impossible. |
YES you can change the chamber Pat Rogers has mentioned this more than once in his SWAT column. Ned Christiansen has come up with a reamer that will change your .223 chamber into 5.56. Ned's AR Tools including the .223 to 5.56 reamer According to Pat, the steel is so hard it works on Chrome Lined barrels as well. Ok the reamer is $240 + shipping, so a new barrel may be more practical for most, but if you know someone with the tool. |
