I'm looking at buying an LMT MRP (rifle length) with a 16" barrel.  Does anybody have a pic of one that would enable me to actually see what it would look like?

I'd love to see other variants of the MRP as well so I can make a better educated purchase.  I know there are LMT pic threads, but I'm looking for specifics.  If you could also include a brief description, I would be grateful.

Thanks a lot everyone!

It is a great thread.  Thanks for the referral.  However, quite a few pictures have been taken down and as is often said, "it can be difficult to get a perspective on things."

Also, is the rifle length much heavier than the CQB model?  I'm not interested in having my rifle be used for precision shooting.  Would the CQB variety be more to my needs I wonder?

It's totally reasonable to run a rifle length MRP with short barrel, just as easily as you could run an 16"-18" barrel with the carbine version and have a solid precision setup.  It's all on what function you need, and looks.

Honestly, if you're not going to be using the rail space up front, then the carbine and weight savings are worth it 95% of the time.

If your going to get a 16inch barrel I would get the CQB.  I have two, they are amazing.  To me all that extra rail space doesn't look good and insn't necessary unless your running 18 inch barrels or longer.

Someone here in the general AR forum just posted some pics of his CQB MRP, have a look.  Otherwise ask the question in the SMGLee MRP thread, it gets looked at frequently.

Recommendation: Buy both, but get the CQB first

Willamette,

I like the cut of your jib!  If I'm going to pull that off though, I'll need some assistance in getting this by my wife!

Thanks for the advice guys.  It sounds like I probably ought to go with the CQB model.

Is the MRP DI or piston?  I thought it was DI, but I've read a few things that made me question myself.

The MRP is DI, but they have a piston version of the CQB coming out.  If you buy a DI CQB now, you can retrofit it later.

I guess I know pretty well what I'm going to do now.  I just hope that there isn't a seriously long wait.  Does anyone know?

The MRP is anything you want it to be.  You can change barrel lengths and calibers in minutes.  When the piston version comes out, you could switch from DI to piston if you wanted.  But the piston version will only be available in the CQB model, not the rifle length.  With the MRP you can switch from a 5.56 to 6.8 SPC to a .204 caliber and barrel lengths choices are 10.5, 12.5, 14.5, 16, 18 and 20 inches.

Wow... This is exciting.  I can't wait to get my MRP.  I've decided I'm going to get the CQB version.  I really appreciate everyone's advice and input.

What I meant in regards to "the wait" was:  Is there a waiting period before LMT can fill your order?  Are they back-ordered?

As long as you aren't looking for any caliber other than 5.56 then several site sponsors have them in stock. If you are mil/leo I would recommend either MSTN or Rainier Arms. I chose Rainier due to their location. I am in AK and they are in WA so it was a shipping issue. Rainier has flat rate shipping of 6.95(or around there) and MSTN was going to charge a bit more. But there are several site sponsors that stock them regularly and for probably cheaper than you can get from LMT. If you order straight from LMT look for quite a wait.
