I can't decide between the Daniel Defense Lite rail or the LaRue tactical rail. I will be putting this on a mid-length gas system 16". I like the idea of a longer rail with a flip-up front BUIS, but I have to go with at least an 11" rail to fully cover the gas block.

What are your thoughts between these two in terms of quality, customer service, looks and and weight?

Also, do you think the 9" is the way to versus a longer rail?

Thanks!

I have a midlength as well and keep going back and forth between a 9" and 11". I think I'm finally going to just go with the 11". It's going to be a bit heavier, but at least it's worth more in case you ever decide to sell it or trade for a 9".

As far as DD vs LaRue, they're both quality. I went with Larue mainly due to price (found it used) and because I am also from Texas, so i wanted to support the local business. You couldn't go wrong with either.

Cant go wrong with either, but I'll be getting a Larue for the precision build I'm finishing.

Well now I have added the VLTOR CASV-M to the mix, I am just not sure which one I want. I see most are suggesting the LaRue but I cant help but think that maybe it's too much of a band wagon type thing with LaRue. I like that they are made just 20 miles away from where I live, but I also hate that they don't have any in stock, ever!

Still confused one whether I should go with a standard 9" mid-length hg or stretch it out an inch or two, go low-profile gas block and flip-up BUIS and stretch it out a bit. I plan on a light later on as well as the Aimpoint 3X magnifier.

Any other thoughts?

Considering how many they seem to sell, always being out of stock is a real testament to how popular the Larue system is. It was a toss up for me on my SPRish build between a 12" DD-Lite rail and the Larue 13.2, but I ended up w/ the DD Lite because:
A: I like the continuous rail look (purely for cosmetic reasons)
B: I got a really good deal on a slightly used one.

A 10" rail will cover up a low-profile gas block on a middy. I know LaRue has a 10" but I don't think the DD Lite comes in that length. I can take pics of mine when I get home, I have 10" rails on both of my middies.

I've never met anybody that regrets going with LaRue.

Mid-length with a 12" rail.
