I have a new LMT MRP CQB with a 14.5" barrel.  After firing approximately 150 rounds I noticed powder burns in front of the gas block.  It's not an insignificant amount of leaking.

How do I fix this problem (e.g. some kind of sealant)?

Thanks.

It should seal up with carbon sooner or later. If your rifle is not cycling then worry about it. The gas block may not be properly lined up with the gashole. Wrong size gas block.  BLahhhhh.......^&*^&^*^&^ Someone with amore cohierent answer will be along shortly.

If it is an aluminum gas block that will happen. The aluminum heats up and expands faster than the barrel. It also depends on how well made the gas block is.

It shouldn't affect the performance just doesn't look real good and takes extra scrubbing.

I've seen this on cheap rifles, custom spaceguns and everything in between, both new and old. As long as function is 100% I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

Do I have to worry about gas block erosion?  LMT is obviously good equipment and they use steel gas blocks.  If there aren't any LT concerns, functioning is 100%, then I won't worry about it.

Thanks.
