I just have a standard Bolt carrier, but have seen chrome, TiN

I understand the crome being easier to clean....but other than that when actaully firing the AR does these different type of Bolts make an improvement?

I'd have to advise you against that carrier group. DPMS is notorious for bolt failures.

If you want chrome take a look at these.  They have much higher QC standards.

If you just want easy to clean You may want to check out these too.

And to answer your original question, chrome reduces wear on the BCG but honestly a standard BCG from a reputable company will last you a long long time!  The National match carriers are held to tighter specs so they're supposed to make your gun a little more accurate.  I honestly don't think that you'll see much of a difference unless you're a really good shot to begin with.

If you just keep up with your cleaning of the BCG it's not a problem keeping a non chrome or what ever coated BCG in working order.

I soak my bolt end with the baked on carbon in a small jar of Breakfree CLP for a few hours and then you can easly scrape the carbon off. The carbon really does not cause any problems with firing of your AR but it looks nasty and I like my bolt to look cared for.

Also a little scraping inside the carrier will remove the baked on carbon it just take a little work and some time.

I bought a slightly used LMT enhanced bolt for my AR and run it with a standard carrier - THAT is really easy to clean...
