A "T' marked upper would be a upper with numbering between the rail slots like T2, T4 and so on in case you need to remember where to put a mount after removing it.

The fluted barrel is a barrel that has had material removed usually length wise from the barrel in order to lighten the weight and provide more overall surface for the barrel to cool.

ETA: A pic of a fluted barrel...

Thanks bro. Is there any situation where a fluted barrel would be a bad thing? I cant imagine it would cut down on barrel life any.

Here's the deal about fluted bbls regarding weight. (the cooling area is already out there)
EDIT: As I have been given to understand the matter, that is.

For a given weight of barrel, the fluted one will be stiffer.
For a given outer diameter of barrel, the fluted one will be lighter (but not quite as stiff)

If you want to build a 1km match AR, you'd be better off with a regular heavy barrel than with a heavy barrel that's been fluted.
But, if you want most of the stiffness of a heavy barrel, without as much of the weight, fluted would be the way to go, IMO.

This is a 'T' markled upper.

Note how the numbers stay in sequence going on to the rail. They are commonly the even numbered slots, but some makers have been known to number the odd slots...on the rails. I have yet to see an odd numbered upper receiver.
